Application Process

Enrollment to Willowwind School is done through application.
Willowwind School uses a rolling admission process.

The following steps should be completed in order to apply for admission:

1. Contact us
Want to find out more about Willowwind? Contact our Director of Admissions at info@willowwind.org or sign up on our mailing list here.  We look forward to the opportunity to provide more information and answer any questions you may have.

2. Initial visit
Tours are available to anyone interested and an application does not need to be on file to tour. Visits are typically done between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.   Tours can be completed before or after submitting an application for admission. Willowwind believes school visits are the best way to assist a family in determining program fit.  We welcome you to see our dynamic learning community in action!

3. Apply!
Submit an application for admission and non-refundable $100 application fee. Our application is available here. 

Families are able to identify the academic year they are seeking admission to within the application. We accept applications and have wait lists for start dates that are multiple years out for preschool enrollment.


4. Meet with us...if you haven't already
As part of our admissions process, we like to meet with all applicants. This informal meeting with you and your child (you may choose to first visit without your child) is an opportunity to get to know our Willowwind community, ask questions, and gather program information.  We believe in discovery through inquiry even at the application stage.  

K-6 classroom visits and observations also allow Willowwind the opportunity to assess student needs.  Families and teachers collaborate on a Personalized Education Plan for each of our students and the information provided during application is the first step in the development of these.
 
We support developmental placement and in some instances, we may ask for a subsequent meeting with you and/or your child, the opportunity for our teacher(s) to meet with your child, or request school records and/or references from previous teachers to help evaluate student level.  

5. Next steps
Your application will be evaluated for admission. Early each spring, we contact current families to determine re-enrollment and possible number of available spaces for new students. At that time, we are able to offer available spaces to accepted applicants on our waiting list.  New students are then invited based upon the date we received your completed application and fee. Admission after the start of the academic year for accepted applicants is based upon availability.
