Third through sixth grade Willowwind students have the opportunity to participate in Lego League this year. Students will work together to design several NXT and EV3 robots to maneuver, lift, push, pull, respond to sensors, and endure the consequences of gravity.
Willowwind students will have the opportunity to collaborate with the University’s Robotics club throughout the year. Connor is looking forward to working with Willowwind students and opening their eyes to the world of engineering and robotics!
About the Teacher
University of Iowa junior Connor Grierson will be coaching Willowwind students this year. Connor is a physics and premed major at the University and has been building robots since he was 8 years old, taking electronics apart to create his own robots and to improve upon their designs. He is also heavily involved in the University of Iowa Robotics Club. The Robotics club is currently building an autonomous robot that excavates materials while overcoming obstacles for NASA. The Robotics team will be 1 of 50 teams from around the US to travel to Florida and compete at NASA, who uses ideas from the competition, offers grants and potential jobs for their space program.
